nathan mittleman...

...is a Midwest-based theatre artist and educator. Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, he received a BFA in musical theatre from Indiana University Bloomington. Following graduation, he relocated to Chicago where he performed at such theatres as the Paramount, Chicago Shakespeare, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Theatre at the Center, Porchlight, Music Theatre Works, and Northbook Theatre for Young Audiences. Regional credits include work at the Adirondack Theatre Festival, Fireside, Palace in the Dells, Cardinal Stage Company, Bloomington Playwrights Project, Indiana Festival Theatre, and the Round Barn in Nappanee. Nathan is also a director and choreographer, recently helming Disney's Newsies for South Bend Civic Theatre and Calling All Kates at Prima Theatre. He currently serves as the choral director and theatre arts instructor at James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend while pursuing his MA in Secondary Education from Ball State University. Nathan is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society

The Rainbow Fish

Nathan will direct The Rainbow Fish this spring, closing out the 2022-2023 Riley High School Drama Club season. Based on the international bestseller and award-winning children's book by Marcus Pfister, The Rainbow Fish will be performed in the RHS Auditorium on Friday, May 12th at 7 PM and Saturday, May 13th at 2 PM. Tickets are $5 for both SBCSC students/staff and the public, and can be purchased at the door. Seating is general admission.

The Prom

This summer, Nathan will return to Clay High School to choreograph another SBCSC Summerfly production: The Prom. This Drama Desk Award winner for Best Musical will feature the talents of middle and high school students throughout the Michiana area. The Prom will open on Thursday, June 29th and close on Saturday, July 1st. All performances will begin at 7 PM. Ticket prices and additional information will be available soon.
